Lake Bogoria situated in Kenyan Rift Valley, lies in a trough below the Ngendelel Escarpment, a sheer wall 600 metres high and covers 32 square kilometers. It is believed to be geothermically active on the western shore, with geysers and hot springs. It is situated in Lake Bogoria reserve which is a semi-arid area.
